Easy to Ignore

There’s a west view that I look to
As the sun view sits mountain top
And its bright rays pierce the clouds' haze
Spreads golding glaze on sloped roof tops
Soon the twilight shines a highlight
Of an orange light like a torch
All around me there is beauty
That I just don’t see anymore
I can’t see the forest for the trees
Can’t see the flowers for the bees
Can’t see the blue skies through my own front door
I can’t see the beauty I’m not looking for
It’s so easy to ignore
In the dark sky when the moon’s high
And the stars shine, I’m asleep
All the roses hold their poses
I don’t notice them at my feet
And the ocean, with devotion
Stays in motion
And the high peaks' trusting pine trees
Stand in glory

Shine like silver, I stay indoors
