Mount Dome

I woke up in the brightest of all lights
In a dome as dark, as black as night
In the center straight beneath the height
A mountain loomed before my eyes
And I never thought I’d ever reach the peak of it
Not least the other side
I tried to size the rock that rose
I tried to think of an approach
I searched in poetry and prose
For an answer to appease my woes
And I never thought I’d ever reach the peak of it
Not least the other side
So I tried to think of something else than cloudy peaks
And not least another side
I tried to ready for the climb
I strained the flesh, I strained the mind
And I fell asleep and I dreamt of time
And a voice that spoke to me, sublime
You can take the long way around the mount
The important thing is to reach the other side
If you start out now and forget the peak
It might still be light when you reach the other side
(Ooooh!)
