Way back in 1912 apartheid South
White and black ladies of the night walked separate routes
Some white hookers got together
And they all agreed this year they’d march in the Mardi Gras parade
Oh and word got out across them tracks
'Cause no women was allowed to mask
So some ladies dressed up like baby dolls
Satin skirts, bloomers, and razor blades in their garter belts
And the boys scream no no no
They hollering no
And you could hear Jim Crow’s ghost
Crying no
Well them sailors came into port carrying money disease and wine
To the Red Light District to Storyville them soldiers wandered to unwind
Found the black hookers done organized, had big sticks
Sick of being marginalized
The women dressed up like baby dolls
Desegregated that parade with their power
And the boys scream no no no
They hollering no
And you could hear Jim Crow’s ghost
Crying no
So the women dressed up like baby dolls
Got razor blades and solved all their problems
