A Cataclysmic Descent

Do my eyes deceive me
A wasteland lies outside my door
Devastation as far as the eye can see
Such a sight sends a shimmer to my core
The planets have aligned (When will they realize)
Debris fills the air (They wait for nothing to begin)
What a shameful demise (All that’s been prophecized)
No remorse to share (It's all just an excuse to sin)
People mourning, children crying
Cities burn away
Fate defying, Mankind is dying
Ashes to end our reign
A foolish obsession
Modernized conception
A prophet’s arrogance
Common ignorance
Look to the sky but the rain won’t come
And you’ll wonder why

Sorrow I feel for the fellow man
