A Deplorable Epoch

As daylight dies
In the shadows of the sun
Crows will guide us back to the void
Our lying bones
In the altar of flesh
Left abandoned, shapeless, deformed
A shroud of gloom
As the night covers the earth
Drown in the endless aeons of rot
The cry of depths
Are the trumpets of the end
Resounding from our tombs
Mummified by the light of eclipse
The sea is black — the oily tide
As the pyre burn to the last of men
Extinction clouds of cleansing rains
The melting of the sun and the moon before his eyes
The winds are still
The water is blood
The clouds of flesh
They prayed for coward gods
Salvation never came
They hoped for better days
But the night befeld them
Eternally
