When Jesus took his ministry into Jericho
A noisy crowd had gathered in the city street below
And as he reached the city gate a sight there was to see
Little ol' Zacchaeus was sittin' in a tree

Jesus waved and called to him, «Come down and dine with me.

Zacchaeus gathered taxes from both the young and old
He really wasn’t liked at all. That’s what I was told
They hated him for he was rich from tax collector’s greed
Poorer now than ever, they could not meet their needs.

Yet he knew he had to go when Jesus called to him
Half the treasure that he owned to the poor he gave away
A poor lost sheep was found again on that blessed day
