A widow was walking all by the millstream
A young man he saw her and started to dream
He dreamed of her beauty, he dreamed of her love

In the cooler light of morning, he woke from the dream
He saw the sad widow in her weeds, dark and mean
His fickle love vanished in the blink of an eye
