I’m a simple man
Raised up at the wood lines
Young and tired
Heart big as the sky
They told me «can't» only means you’re afraid to die
My daddy taught me not to cry

I asked God why, but got no replies
The stars still shine so I’m satisfied

I’ve been laughed at and made to feel left out
People are so cruel. (But that’s ok)
They will take all of you
Because I know my day will be soon

Being barefoot seems so long ago
The blistering heat and dancing under thunder storms
No need in friends!
I wore hand-me-downs and I was proud to have them
At the wood lines I’ve killed many things
And every time I’ve cried
I’ve got a heart and mind. They always disagree
Be my strength when I grow weak
