Dust

Dust, dust, dust in the skies
Dust on the trail, dust in my eyes
Dust, dust, can’t see the sun
Can’t find my way, the dust has won
The cattle and the sheep, bedded down to sleep
Seem to realize their fate
The vultures in the sky know the time is nigh
Will they fly away or wait
Oh Lord, please ease my pain
Oh Lord, where is your rain and sunshine
Dust, dust, must it be, can this be eternity
Here was a home, where the buffalo roamed
Where the deer, and the antelope played
Here was a place where the cattle would graze
Where corn and alfalfa once waved
Where are the ranchers, the cowpunching crowd
What has become of the rain
Out of the blue came a threatening cloud
Causing this awful change
