Humility

The bartender said
«Son, you’re looking half-dead
«You're better off make it a double»
But if I remember right
Last time I drank all night
I just woke up in the same trouble
So I finally prayed
«Lord, I’m all out of strength
«Can you give me something I need?»
And he gave me one strong shot of humility
I’ve been drinking too much
I’ve been acting real tough
I’ve been making a fool of myself
But there’s no sin inside
That’s half as bad as my pride
And the booze ain’t been great for my health
So I finally prayed
«Lord, I know I have strayed
«But can you make a man out of me?»
And he gave me one strong shot of humility
So now I don’t fight him
I daily invite him
To give me a humble heart
And though I may falter
If I go to the altar
I won’t have to go to the bar
So if you’re like me
And always tryin' to be
In control all the time
It might get so far
But when you finally fall
You won’t find salvation in wine
But have no fear
'Cause if the Lord can hear
A prideful sinner like me
Then he’ll give you one strong shot
It only takes one, believe it or not
Yeah he gave me one strong shot of humility
