Empty Walls

I took the pictures down
And drew the vacant space in slow
I threw the cuts out
And the other memories I’ve stored
I’ve washed the sheets ten times
But I still see your hair
And down the hallway
These empty walls stare at me bare
I watched our castle
As it crumbled into dust
I tried to hang on
But it all fell through my fingertips
I pace back and forth
Not knowing where to turn
I’m so gutted
Deserted and disarrayed, I’m torn
I am hollowed out and bare
I am the same, degrading here
I am wrapped in hearts decay
I am empty like the walls
And once the storm passed
I begged for your return
I spoke in your tongue
And you said you needed time
So here I sit now
Staring at the wall
Counting the hours
So I can hang our frames back up
