THE BATTLE’S ALMOST OVER
BUT THE WAR HAS JUST BEGUN
THE DAWN OF A NEW AGE ARISES
WITH THE SETTING SUN
WE WILL MARCH INTO THE FIELD
WE WILL MARCH VICTORIOUS
'CAUSE THE STING OF THE FIGHT
HERE IS NOTHING NEW TO US
Way back — back when I was young
Growing up taught not to jump the gun
About a man’s colour or creed
Six years down and now I finally see
It’s a war with the words we write
We’ll stand together black and white
One goal in mind is all we have
Side by side — hand in hand
So send the warning red alert
'Cause our battles just begun
Out there on the airwaves
Prejudice gone and dug itself a grave
Words are ammunition
Poetry like bullets from a gun
Until every women and every man
Are side by side — hand in hand
THe time is gonna come to stand up for yourself
It’s a dawn of a new age now
The battle’s almost over — the war has just begun
It won’t be over until we’re all side by side
