About four or five years ago
He couldn’t keep it up anymore
How long’d you expect him to go?
I heard his pony got tired
After seventeen years the pony laid down and died
And Yankee Doodle bought a Ford
Drove it up to New York
But the girls don’t like his hands

When the jukebox stopped
Yankee Doodle couldn’t make it work again

But with his pony gone, his Ford got a flat
