Hammerless Nail

Avoidance is my stock and trade
I do it almost everyday
'Til the days go by in a haze of okays
Lo-fi covers my every flaw
Yeah I never really learned to hem my haws
Maybe I never learned anything
Maybe a war is what I need
A good haircut or a death in the family
I can’t nail down just what is missing
The hammer’s on it’s way
Expectations ain’t so great
When you wear 'em like a heavy weight
And you wait around expecting to wait
So here I stand, yeah I’m the nail
When the hit comes down I’m available
I’ll be the one with the hard, hard head
But when it comes, what will I say?
You just might get what you ask for, they say
