Friends said, «Just forget her.»
Just like that, «Forget her.»
They said, «Sure, she’s lovely,
but she’s not the only one.»
Forget her.
Easier said than done.
They said, «Hey, it’s over.
Face it, the girl’s gone now.
Time for moving on now.
Go, have yourself some fun.»
Move on now.
Easier said than done.
Oh, it was hard,
but I made a show of it,
Got on with my life again,
Got back in the flow of it,
and, bit by bit,
I made a go of it.
Then near some restaurant
I’d been to.
Guess who I
Ran in to?
She smiled,
and said, «Well, hey there.
Say, you’re looking great now.
I’d chat, but I’m so late now.
Take care, I gotta run.»
I watched her go,
and stood there trying
to keepy myself from crying.
But that’s easier said,
So much easier said,
Than done.
