They promise you the moon
Just to tell you how far away it is
Away form your grasp
And out of your reach
They’re selling off the stars
You can have one named after you
A diamond in the sky
To never fade away
They build your expectations
Just to tear them apart again
Tell you it’s just growing up
And that’s just how it is
They left you feeling empty
Just to fill you back up again
A substitute for love
An antidote for life
They taught you how to dream
And how to be insecure
It’s better to be known
And never feel the pain
They taught you how to think
And how to play ignorance
(Can someone please tell me why?)
It’s better to be dumb
Then never take the blame
