What I thought were finished pages were just songs I’d left unsung
My history speaks to me when I lie awake at night
Speaking angry words and images to remind me of the fight
I’m using my time wisely I am trying to get clear
I’m trying to get in touch with what I love and what I fear
But what I love is freedom what I fear is freedom too
When I’m looking at my enemy is it me or is it you?

Which is justice which is pain? Is it past that will define?
