The Mine

Early in the morning
when the sun is rising up
You get up from the bed
and have another coffee cup
Then put ya coveralls again
And get into the car
all’s set up again just for
a brand new day in the mine

In this cold ole mine
The grey fence surrounds all
everybody’s smashing rocks
inside ramshackle tunnels
till the sun is going down
Mercy went out forever
thorough that sweaty sorrow road
No more space for feelings
Once again you’ll hit the rock
And no one will hear your whines

Tired of this hard life
you’ve been living for years ago
Just waiting for better times
that don’t appear to come
Music will be your refuge
everyday from dusk till dawn
surrounded by grey people
spending your youth in the mine
And nobody walk the line
in this cold ole mine
