Keepsake Day

Oh, the grey cat’s asleep on the patchwork I keep
On the rocking chair here in the kitchen
My new boots fit well, and so far’s I can tell
I can wear them with the socks I’ve been knitting
And I’ve opened a letter from my dearest friend
That she wrote in the old-fashioned way
And I smiled, and I sighed, and I laughed and I cried;
I believe I’ll be keeping today

And the bread that I started is rising
The postman dropped by so I made him some tea
