Night Lilies

come gether round assholes and chop me a line
I’ll tell you a tale of a good friend of mine
it’s a tale worth the telling
so you might not agree
of a man I once knew and how he lost the sea
I came here from a hearrtland
where no heart can live
where eyes remain hard and cannot forgive
of bloodshed and prison I was not affraid
as long as the dead man inside me got laid
and there’s a chain that is snaking
through all our dreams
it wraps round our eyes and shuts out moonbeams
and my young heart was twisted
by dark sexual games
and the terminal shadow of heartache and stains
but boys I was waiting, just biding my time
and walking my rage down an old railway line
and girls the night lilies they perfumed the track
and when the day broke there was no turning back
now I live among lost man with winding down lives
I sleep on their sofas and feel up their wives
I wake late in the morning
with a scream in my skull
I shuffle to the kitchen but the knives are all dull

I lay down to sleep where the night lilies grow
