Annual Paean

Alas, another one escaped this year
Another tempest crept up from the rear
These pending stems are all that remained
Absent of what they once contained
Annually, punctually adhered
To a bane occasionally feared
Admittedly, I fell prey once again
To the sirens' psalms of dismay
Tunnel aim narrowed a trust
Will is a must; I’ve failed to attain
