There, s a spot in Old Tirconnell
With a wee house in the glenn
Where dwelt an Irish colleen
Who had won the hearts of men
She was winsome, fair and hearty
shined graceful as a fawn
it was love thatwidows daughter

One day there came a letter
with the passage paid to go
to lands where the Mississippi
and the deep Missouri flow
So she bid farewell to Erin
and next morning at the dawn
Said a broken hearted mother

Many years that mother waited
till one morning at the door
sat a lovely looking lady
all grand the clothes shr wore
Said Mother .dont you worry
said ive only got a cold
but the purple spo, tsupon her cheeks
the tragic story told
Theres a graveyard in Tirconnell
where the blossoms sadly sway
Her brokenhearted mother
stands sadly oer her grave
