A Free Man?

Free
a word I’ve longed to speak
finally the chains removed from about my feet
I leap for joy that I can be totally and
completely free
After some time though my joy soon fades
Now enters the serious faze
What must I do?
How do I start?
These questions lay
Heavy on my heart
As I go throughout the day I continue to bow
I want to stand up straight but I don’t know how
The things my ancestors did are far away from me
Now somehow I must fit in this society
Starting in this land is a game
Never knew anything about beeing a slave
Now that I’m free
I must become a man
I dont know where to start
Don’t know if I can
For every step I take I’m dragged back too
If I had a father maybe he would know what to do

When I was only two
I don’t know where or
to who
But I’m a free man
