Memory chases behind
Island beguiling and nameless
Small kayak rocked in the wake
At times unknown grievous and broken
The only path left to make
Rain like a blessing after the drought
Benediction falling slaking parched doubt
Brave sail holds the horizon
Bold bird it cleaves it in two
Silhouettes bent on the starboard
A westerly list renewed
Simple as running a foot race
Complex as the colour of sky
Questions no answers no ending
Why does it help to cry
