On the Surface

She wears her scars on her sleeve
In hopes that someone out there will see
Her life lies out before her
All the things she could not cure
And as the days pass she tries to erase
The taste of blood or the hollow face
That haunts her dreams she wants to scream
But is afraid they’ll go unseen

Lifelessness
