Bad Side of Town

Where I was born was called the bad side of the town
But the people knew the difference between a smile and a frown
And it didn’t cost a penny to shake a hand or two
And if you help to make it thru the dark
I would do the same thing to you
Bad side of town, old soldiers never like down
Got a penny in the pocket for a bottle of brown
And the women talk a giggling, the mothers everyone
And the cildren play with the children
And the children always had fun
I can hear the river flow, inside of everyone
In spite of everyone, the tide is on the turn
And the bad side of town, was named by nameless men
Do they knew themselves as faces never as friends
And the bad side of town, for sure it got to pull down
And the people who lives to people, never put their faces down
