The Olive Tree

When evening by the olive tree
Strangest thing came over me
A vision deep inside my soul
Like outta time, in days of old
This funny feeling made it seem
Like I was caught inside a dream
As pharaohs layin' down to sleep
With riches, stones, and slaves to keep
I saw the Christians shed their blood
I saw Noah fight the raging flood
And as I watched, a mammoth drank
From waters by the tundra bank
Before the ice caps melted down
The seas of liquid all around
Before the sultans drew the sword
Before the story of the world
Before the Druids raised the spear
Genghis Khan spilled blood and tears
Before we got here, you and me
Way before the olive tree
