I went wandering in the dark
Creeping in the fog
Lonely for my drowned love
Who’s ghost is what I’d sought
When I saw night witches there
Dancing in the fog
Climbed a tree who’s sap was black
Roots in something odd
Saw there rise a ziggurat
Atop sat a strange god

Ape men crawled up from the mud
Grown inside a pod
They joined hands and sang to me
Something from beyond
