My Theory: Better to be able to kinda pronounce it, than have it listed in African transliterated to English that you don’t have a prayer of pronouncing
unless you have a copy of the record to listen to, and practice from.
This song was picked up by Jim Kweskin, and others (Arlo Guthrie, Patrick Sky,
Ramblin' Jack Elliott, and who knows else) back in the 1960s from a recording
done about 1950 by Hugh Tracey called «The Legendary George Sibanda:
