He was standing on the seventh floor opening the door
«Welcome to life!» he said
He was on the top of the game as it were
«Welcome to the world» he said, with a guff
One day, years later I heard quiet footsteps
Approaching slowly from behind
I turned around, we hugged each other
«Welcome to time,» I said
The great equaliser of all things
I know my little memory of footsteps will be
Swallowed into eternal oblivion
By the ruthless ocean called the Universe
