Last Light

Distant thoughts inside my head
Headlines that I’ve casually read
Nothing good can be spoon fed it’s obvious
I’m taking off into thin air, if I never land I don’t care
As long as I am happy there, I’m there to stay
And the shadows are growing longer with the evening
I can hear a melody from far away
Drums are pounding, guitars slowly grieving
As the sun sheds it’s last light upon the day
Melodies mysterious, the music is to serious
Chalk it up to experience and wander on
Seasons change but don’t inspire the words
That work but aren’t for hire
They’re hanging off the thinning wire that is my brain
